A brave punter has won more than £91k after placing a huge sum on Liverpool to win the Premier League - in October.
Tony Ward, 53, put an eye-watering £55k on the side to triumph over the course of the 2019/2020 season - despite their last win being three decades ago.
He had received the money as part of his inheritance when his mum, Rose, died in 2017.
Not a supporter of The Reds, he simply thought they looked a better bet than rivals Manchester City - and lumped on at 4/6.
And his confidence was rewarded when Liverpool won the title by a stretch on June 25, after lockdown was lifted.
The dad-of-three said he won a handsome payout of £91,666.66 - which he plans to spend on a big holiday.
Tony, from Bradford, West Yorks., stuck the bet at a local branch of Ladbrokes on October 9.
Speaking about his win, he said: "I fancy a big holiday at some point. The rest is for a rainy day.
"Liverpool were always looking like they could win the title. I picked them after a long, long debate.
"It was a two-horse race between them and Manchester City, as far as I was concerned.
"I'm an armchair supporter, really - I've actually been fan of Manchester United since I was a kid!
"[Mum] wouldn't have minded what I did with the money - not at all. She liked a flutter! She liked the horses.
"But I'd give it all back to still have her around. I cherished her."
Tony - like many football fans - was left frustrated by the coronavirus pandemic calling a temporary halt to the season.
And he also feared for his bet - which looked a dead cert before lockdown - as it could have been void if the rest of the matches were cancelled.
He said: "I would have got my stake back, I think, if the season had been cancelled. But that would have been unfair.
"Liverpool were that far clear. They only needed six points.
"They had to play Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the two games after [the bet was placed].
"I thought that if they could get through them I was going to win."
Tony added that he's going to stay away from the bookies for a while and has no plans to reinvest some of his winnings.
He said: "I certainly haven't got any plans to put another bet on for that money again. I won't dive in.
"I don't bet just £5 or £10. I won't just do it willy-nilly!
"I've always liked a flutter - especially when I was younger - but I've tried to be good over the last few years.
"I only bet when I really feel it. I pretty much knew when I stuck the bet on that Liverpool were going to do it."
A spokesperson for Ladbrokes said: "Liverpool won the Premier League with ease in the end and delivered the goods for our confident customer."
Tony, who is unmarried but has a partner, used to work for a different bookmakers but stopped before the outbreak of COVID-19.
