A new picture has emerged of the injury that forced Shane Walsh off the field for in the Dublin Senior Football Championship final has emerged, and it does not make for pleasant viewing.
The Galway native had been playing a match with his new club Kilmacud Crokes but had to leave the pitch due to the injury partway through the match.
The new Crokes star, who only joined Crokes from Kilkerrin/Clonberne in the summer, led his new team to victory to retain the Dublin SFC as well as sealing a man of the match performance with a four point display.

However, a nasty ear injury saw him taken off for treatment towards the first half. He came back on bandaged up but this photo shows the extent of the damage caused that forced him off.
He bravely headed back out on the pitch after being stitched up and was just as well he did, as the Crokes only had one point to spare by the time the final whistle blew.
The team pulled through to victory with a 0-11 to 0-10 triumph.
Shane told TG4 after the team's victory: “I’m a bit battered after it but that’s what football is.
“Both teams going hard at it there for 60 plus minutes and credit to Na Fianna, they pushed us all the way. That’s a sign of the team that’s there. Everyone stood to a man and Na Fianna threw everything at us, I’m just delighted. I was slagging with the lads when I joined up, I said, ‘I’m not bringing success to the club, I’m just joining up with ye and I’m hoping ye’ll drag me over the line.’ And that’s the way it was today.”
And later on that night, it was party-time as he was hoisted high in the Kilmacud Crokes club-house, belting out Sweet Caroline with some adoring Kilmacud supporters.
The reigning Leinster champions will face Naas in the provincial quarter-final, in a repeat of last year's decider.
