Galway motorist caught 'having a nightmare' with disastrous driving live on TG4 news

A hilarious clip posted online shows a driver in Galway city struggling to park live on a TG4 news broadcast.

The evening news segment shows local TD Eamon O Cuiv being interviewed outside The Dail bar in the heart of the city.

But unbeknownst to the Fianna Fail politician is the awkward driving scenes taking place behind him while he is live on air.

Someone who captured the video on Snapchat and later posted it to Reddit on Tuesday described the motorist as "having a right mare".

The clip shows a silver Micra car rounding the corner behind Mr O'Cuiv.

However, they then turn towards the curb in what appears to be an attempt to park.

The driver seems to struggle with their parallel parking and cause another vehicle behind them to stop on the road, causing a brief logjam on the city street.

At one point, the interviewer is speaking while both cars come to an awkward halt just inches behind him.

People have been reacting to the brilliant video since it was posted on the Reddit Ireland thread.

One person said: "Hilarious. But the reality is, he's on the footpath, and the car is doing a particularly poor job of parking. Lower Cross St. In the Google map, all the cars are turned the other way, the city council recently revised the direction of traffic."

A second commented: "I think I know whose car that is. The same guy must park there regularly because he nearly drove into myself and my father the other weekend in the same spot just in front of where the skateboard shop used to be. Galway is too small sometimes."

A third summarised the clip: "Sh**e, of all times. I just couldn't do without my snickers could I? ****. OK. Keep Cool. Breathe. Breathe. Right. Just reverse back out and escape, Quick. Nobody will know. 1st gear. OK. Calm yourself. Think. Think. Think.

"OK. They might not have seen me. No, they definitely didn't see me. Sure I didn't see them. Right. Quick, just hide under the camera and pretend I was there all along. YES! That's definitely it. OK. Please, Please, Please let this be the brake and not the accelerator."
