Galloway Small Arms Club opened its ranges for the first time in 14 months on Saturday.
The club was forced to shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic and members were pleased to hear the sound of gunfire again.
It was decided to mark the event by going old school with black powder pistols – so with a lot of noise and plenty of smoke the ranges near Crocketford were declared open.
Chairman Andy Duffy of Dumfries said: “We have had to be patient over the past year but it’s great to be back target shooting again, albeit in a limited fashion due to social distancing rules.”
It is hoped that with the easing of restrictions, members will be able to eventually take part in a full programme of events.
