Galloway Horse Club members were in action at the British Riding Clubs National Championship at Lincoln showground recently.
In the open dressage team competition, the club’s horse and rider combinations rode some fantastic tests and didn’t have a result below 65 per cent throughout the whole competition. The team finished ninth overall from 22 teams competing which is a very good result.
Frances Ferguson and Minstrel were the stars of the show with a fantastic fourth place in the Novice 24, Heather Conn and Piper’s Appeal produced a beautiful test for 11th place in the Novice 30, Katie Miodonski and Just Polka again produced another great test for 14th place in Novice 39 and Lindsey Birch and Newlands Bank Tommy’s test was consistent for seventh place.
Katie had also qualified for the elementary 43 individually. Their confidence had grown greatly from the team test and they produced another great test for ninth place
Lindsey and Tommy also rode individually in the medium 61, producing some of their best work at that level ending up in 11th place.
Heather had also qualified Piper’s Appeal for the Style Jumping 85cm, producing a super round, with an unlucky pole down, but their style and performance were good enough for eighth place out of 47 combinations.
These results are fantastic for such a small club at a national level.
The club would like to thank team manager Maili Mackenzie who put so much work into the administration and support and also to everyone who supported all the fundraising activities which helped finance the trip to Lincolnshire.
