Galloway Forest Park named one of UK's top sites for stargazers

Galloway Forest Park has been named one of the best places for stargazing in the UK.

The first designated Dark Sky Park has made it onto a list compiled by accommodation provider holidaycottages.co.uk.

The firm claims searches on its website for terms such as “telescope for stargazing” and “stargazing pods” have more than doubled during the past 12 months, driven by the increasing demand for staycations.

And the Galloway Forest Park is described as “an amazing place to stargaze” – it’s sheer size meaning astronomers should have no trouble finding a peaceful spot.

Digital PR manager at holidaycottages.co.uk Shannon Keary said: “It’s amazing to see how many places there are in the UK to stargaze. It’s the perfect experience for those enjoying a staycation as stargazing definitely offers UK holiday-goers a unique and unforgettable activity.”
