Meet Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin). He's a stand-up Vietnam vet, now living a peaceable life in Texas on the cusp of the 1980s. Of course, if he's so peaceable, then how come he's toting that there handgun? OK, good point. Bear with us ...Photograph: Public domainNow here's Carla Jean Moss (Kelly Macdonald). The way we see it, she ain't got much to do with herself 'cept sit on the couch, watch TV and look after her mom, who's poorly. One of those big talkers. Smooth operator. Fancies himself as a problem solver, you know the type. The cemeteries are full of them.Photograph: Public domainSo that about wraps it up. We got our runaway and our bad guy and our bag of loot and our sweet little missy in distress, so called. And who's gonna clean up the mess? Why, it's surely another job for Sheriff Bell (Tommy Lee Jones), the last honest cop in Texas (so called). And he's getting too old for this stuff ...Photograph: Public domain
