Galaxy's Steven Gerrard among players named to MLS All-Star team

July 14--Steven Gerrard hasn't even played in a Major League Soccer game, but he's already an All-Star.

Meanwhile Robbie Keane, the league's reigning MVP and the Galaxy's leading scorer, was left off the roster for the July 29 exhibition at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in suburban Denver.

Gerrard will be accompanied to the exhibition by Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez, who was selected to the team for the third straight time in fan balloting.

The MLS All-Stars will play Tottenham Hotspur of the English Premier League.

Gerrard, who made his Galaxy debut in a friendly with Mexico's Club America last Saturday, is one of two additions to the MLS team made by league Commissioner Don Garber. Former Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard who, like Gerrard, has yet to play an MLS game, was Garber's other pick.

Also named to the team in the fan voting were former and current U.S. national team players Michael Bradley (Toronto FC); Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders); Matt Besler, Benny Feilhaber and Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City); DaMarcus Beasley (Houston Dynamo); and Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake). They will be joined on the roster by Brazil's Kaka (Orlando City SC), Spain's David Villa (New York City FC) and Nigeria's Obafemi Martins (Seattle Sounders).
