Samsung will “digitally unveil” two new devices – presumably the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ – a week before their official unveiling.

The South Korean electronics giant informed media of the event, revealing that two new phones will be revealed at a “special pre-event” on Wednesday afternoon.

A live stream of the proceedings will be hosted on Samsung’s website, starting from 3pm BST. The official launch of the Note 10 devices is not set to take place until 7 August, when the firm hosts an Unpacked event in New York.

Many details of the two new phones are already known after Samsung accidentally leaked information on several official web pages in Romania, Slovakia and other European countries.

According to these leaks, the Note 10+ will run the Android 9 Pie operating system and come in 256 GB and 512 GB versions. It is also expected to feature a much-improved camera, with some rumours suggesting the S-Pen stylus could include a camera lens placed at its base.

Samsung appears to have joined Google in taking an unconventional approach to unveiling its latest smartphones, with the Californian company revealing the key details of its upcoming Pixel 4 phone this week – months ahead of its actual release date.

Smartphone makers are typically tight-lipped about their upcoming devices, refusing to comment on rumours or leaks relating to unreleased products.

The new tactic could be a reaction to the numerous leaks that have plagued the smartphone industry in recent years.

Samsung’s Note series of phones have been particularly susceptible to this trend, with almost all of the details about the Galaxy Note 9 known weeks ahead of its launch last year.

Other expected features of the Note 10 and Note 10+ is that at least one of them will support 5G.
