Galashiels bus crash: Railway reopens but disruption to continue through this morning

Disruption to train services is continuing on Monday morning after a bus crashed onto the railway line in the Borders.

Edinburgh Live reported last night that a single-decker bus veered off the road and onto the tracks near Galashiels at around 8.30pm on Sunday. Thankfully there were no injuries.

The incident caused major problems on the railway late on Sunday evening, and while ScotRail confirmed at around 6am this morning that the line had reopened, disruption to services is set to continue.

Both the 6.28am and 7.26 services from Tweedbank and Edinburgh have been cancelled affecting passengers at Galashiels, Stow, Gorebridge, Newtongrange, Eskbank, Shawfair, Newcraighall and Brunstane.

The 8.44am service from Glenrothes to Edinburgh is also cancelled.

ScotRail say that while most services will gradually start returning to normal throughout the morning, there will be a knock-on effect, with problems to continue until around 9am.

Replacement buses will be leaving Tweedbank at 6.28am and 7.26am, and Newtongrange at 7.01am.  For information on how your journey is affected, visit the ScotRail website.
