Gal Gadot's star-studded 'Imagine' cover called 'cringey' and 'out-of-touch': 'Why don't you just donate money?'

A star-studded cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine”, designed to boost morale during the coronavirus pandemic, has been labelled “cringe” and “out-of-touch”.

Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot assembled the Hollywood figures who participated, including Natalie Portman, Will Ferrell and Amy Adams, all of whom sung lines from the track for a video that has since gone viral.

While some have praised the video for helping them through a difficult time, other fans have accused it of being cringeworthy. Many have similarly suggested that the stars involved could have helped the crisis in other ways, namely through donating money.

“A load of millionaire singers and actors singing ‘imagine no possessions’ is not what I need at 8:55am” wrote one Twitter user.

“Just saw the Gal Gadot Imagine video thing and I think it maybe ruined music for me”, wrote a member of psychedelic rock band Unknown Mortal Orchestra. “It’s been a pretty solid run but I think it’s time for all music to end permanently.”

“Honey, look at all the rich people singing Imagine,” added another. “Everything will be alright now, even though we both lost our jobs. This was so much better than money and not cringy at all.”

“Unless they gon open they wallets, we don’t care”, continued another.

“What would I do without celebrities posting videos on social media telling us little people it’s going to be okay?” asked another Twitter user.

“STARRING the most out of touch with reality celebrities in Hollywood.....” joked someone else.

“Right. They sharing their wealth or just singing?” asked another.

“Imagine being Gal Gadot’s personal assistant trying to survive a pandemic while your idiot boss tells you to cut together a video of random celebrities singing so she can uplift the masses,” said one more.
