Gail Porter robbed days after fracturing skull in horror fall

TV star Gail Porter has revealed how she was robbed days after suffering bleeds on her brain from a horror fall.

The presenter, now recovering at home, is suffering from headaches after fracturing her skull.

And Gail said her bad luck continued after a group of men stole her mobile phone just a few days after the accident.

She said: “I’ve definitely not been having the best of times – but things could be so much worse.”

Gail, who has made documentaries about mental health and dealing with alopecia, was filming in Scotland last month when she took ill and passed out.

She fell backwards and hit her head, leaving her with two bleeds on her brain. When she returned to London, she was pick-pocketed and robbed of her phone.

Gail, who made her name presenting shows including Fully Booked, Top Of The Pops and The Big Breakfast, can remember little about her collapse.

The 50-year-old, from Edinburgh, said: “I’ve been told that when you fracture your skull, the headaches can continue for months, which is not the best.

“I don’t really know what happened and don’t remember any of it.

“I was working, it had been a very long day, it was very cold, I was heading for something to eat and just collapsed.”

She returned to London when she felt strong enough, where she suffered her second trauma.

Gail added: “When I fell and did my head in, I also managed to break my phone. When I was back in London, I went to drop my phone off at an Apple store but on the way these four guys pushed into me.

“I was so worried, I remember thinking, ‘Please don’t knock my head.’

“They started running and, when I got to the phone shop, I put my hands in my pocket and realised, ‘Where’s my phone?’

Gail hopes to be feeling fully fit before heading back to Scotland for Hogmanay with family and friends.
