Gail Porter jokes she was rejected by First Dates bosses for being 'bald and short'

Gail Porter joked that First Dates bosses won't have her on the show because she's "short and bald".

The TV presenter, who lost her hair through alopecia in 2005, is a huge fan of the Channel 4 dating show and says she'd love to take part in the celebrity version.

Gail, who famously dated late Prodigy rocker Keith Flint, says she often tunes into the programme with her daughter Honey, an 18-year-old student.

But that when she asked about being on the show, she wasn't chosen.

She told The Sun : "I don’t think I was right. When they ask a bloke about their ideal woman, they probably don’t say bald or short.

"I’m cracking on a bit. I’m not the most beautiful person you’ve ever seen. But then I always think I’m not good enough.

"I could not think of anything nicer than having a hug every single night. But I can understand that no one would want to hang out with me because I talk a lot, I watch telly all through the night and when I wake up, I put movies on."

Gail was married to Honey's dad, Toploader guitarist Dan Hipgrave from 2001 to 2006, following her 2000 split from Keith, who tragically died in 2019.

Last year, Gail emotionally dubbed Keith the love of her life.

Speaking to Louis Theroux on his BBC Sounds podcast Grounded, she said: "Keith was the love of my life, I absolutely loved him, I miss him."

Their relationship began after they were set up on a blind date.

"I was single and we went out and we did not stop laughing for the entire evening and then practically that was us together, almost for two years," she told Louis.

"The good thing was, he didn't really talk about work, I didn't really talk about work, we would just go and do fun things."

Back in 1999, a naked photograph of Gail was projected onto the Houses of Parliament as part of a publicity stunt for FHM Magazine's 100 Sexiest Women in the World.

She's thought about using dating apps to meet a man but is worried that she might meet some shady characters.

The Mirror has contacted Channel 4 for comment.
