Gabrielle Union detailed how Dwyane Wade is adjusting to retirement life

Dwyane Wade spent the past 16 years in the NBA before calling it a career after this season. In those 16 years, he didn’t have much time for things like grocery shopping and taking trips to the vet.

But now that the 37-year-old Heat star is retired, an entirely new world has opened up for him. And he loves it.

Wade’s wife, Gabrielle Union, joined The Late Late Show with James Corden this week and delightfully detailed just how clueless Wade has been about the simple things like how much milk costs (Wade really thought it was $20) or going to the car wash.

Union said:

“He has no idea what’s happening. When he got into the NBA, he didn’t have any money. He was pretty close to poverty. And then he’s retired now — he does OK for himself. But he’s like, ‘What is this place?! There’s got all kinds of like khaki shorts and cargo shorts. There’s all different colors!’ And I’m like, ‘That’s Old Navy.’ He’s never been to a car wash. He was like, ‘I love it there!’ I’m like, ‘The car wash?’ He’s like, ‘YES!’

“He has no idea how much milk costs. He’s like, ‘What is that? About $20?’ What kind of goat’s blood milk are you — no! I’m like what?”

I particularly enjoyed that Wade expected there to be a special, VIP entrance to the vet. He’s just living his best retirement life and learning as he goes.
