Gabriel sends message to Arsenal supporters following shock Burnley defeat

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has sent a message to supporters apologising for the side's dreadful recent performances.

The Gunners slumped to yet another home defeat on Sunday as they were beaten 1-0 by Burnley, and they have now won just one of their last eight games in the Premier League.

They were booed off by the 2,000 fans present at the Emirates Stadium, and there is huge pressure now mounting on Mikel Arteta as his team languish down in 15th place in the table.

Gabriel - who has been one of the rare bright sparks in what has been a woeful campaign so far - took to social media on Sunday evening with a direct message to the Gunners faithful.

"sorry fans, we will get out of this situation. we need you!" he said.

Gabriel's words echoed those of Kieran Tierney, who admitted he and his teammates simply have to do better.

The Scottish left-back said on Sky Sports: "We are not showing the manager what we can do and how much we believe in him.

"Every game there are signs we are doing a bit better but it is still not good enough. At half time we need to be going in the lead but we are not doing that.

"Hard work is the only thing [that can fix this], nothing else for it. There are no excuses. There is nothing I can say that will make people believe a positive thing is going to come out of this.

"We are lucky we have a great manager. We just need to show better on the pitch."

Things do not get any easier for Arsenal, with a game against high-flying Southampton on Wednesday followed by a tricky-looking trip to Everton on Saturday.
