Gabriel reacts on Twitter after £25m transfer is confirmed and Arsenal fans will love it

Arsenal have finally completed the signing of Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes for a fee believed to be in the region of £25million.

The Brazilian had been closely linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the last few weeks and the Gunners officially announced his arrival on Tuesday afternoon, confirming that the centre-back has put pen to paper on a long-term deal in North London.

Gabriel becomes Arsenal's fourth permanent signing of the summer transfer window, following in the footsteps of Cedric Soares, Pablo Mari and former Chelsea star Willian.

Will Ainsley Maitland-Niles stay at Arsenal?

The defender's arrival at the Emirates Stadium will be a massive boost to Mikel Arteta - the Gunners head coach - ahead of the start of the new season, with the Spaniard having been eager to land a new central-defender this summer.

Gabriel has become the second player in just over 12 months to swap Lille for the Gunners, with Nicolas Pepe joining the club for a club-record fee of £72million last year.

Now that the defender's move to Arsenal has officially been confirmed, he has broke his silence on his transfer on social media, delivering a post on Twitter that will have no doubt gone down well with his new supporters.

The Brazilian, who was also attracting interest from the likes of Everton and Italian giants Napoli, wrote on Twitter: "LONDON IS RED," with a trio of emojis in tow.

That will have no doubt caught the eye of Arsenal fans, who will no doubt be delighted with their new signing.

Discussing his arrival at the Emirates Stadium in a more formal sense, Gabriel told Arsenal's club website: "[Edu and I] had several chats about Arsenal and the new project, we had many good conversations.

“As the days went by I was getting very excited about it, then I had a call from the coach and that was very reassuring.

“Having the coach himself calling you to say he wants you in his squad motivates you a lot. That is the very reason I am here today.

“We did not talk about [details], he just told me he is aware of my quality, my capacity and how far I can go. He also said he will be very demanding with me.

"I know he is a great coach and I will make progress with his help."

Arsenal have also confirmed that Gabriel will wear shirt No.6 at the Emirates Stadium.
