Gabriel Martinelli sends message to Liverpool ahead of Arsenal's Carabao Cup clash

Arsenal return to Carabao Cup action as they travel to Merseyside to take on Arsenal.

The Gunners progressed in the competition after comfortably beating Championship side Nottingham Forest in the last round, however this time is likely to be a much bigger test.

Liverpool are on fire in the Premier League and they'll be hoping to keep that winning momentum going as they take on Unai Emery's side.

The North London side go into the game in a sticky situation with the club somewhat divided after recent events.

The 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace at the weekend was just the tip of the iceberg as the situation regarding Granit Xhaka stole the headlines.

Boos from the supporters were met by gestures from the Arsenal captain who was clearly unhappy with the criticism that he faced; something which only made matters worse.

Xhaka won't be facing Liverpool, but that doesn't mean that the situation is resolved.

However with this sideshow being put on the backburner for now, the focus for Unai Emery is giving his talented young players another platform to show what they're capable of.

One of those players in Gabriel Martinelli who has shown his quality in fleeting moments of brilliance since arriving at the club.

Martinelli is clearly up for the challenge as he took to social media ahead of the game.

He said: "Ready for tomorrow’s game. #COYG."

Whether his raw pace and quality wlll be enough to guide the Gunners to victory over Jurgen Klopp's side though, remains to be seen.
