Gabriel Martinelli reveals Mikel Arteta’s simple Arsenal instruction amid fantastic run of form

Gabriel Martinelli has revealed that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has simply just told him to ‘be dangerous’ amid his brilliant recent form.

After beginning the season in and out of the Gunners squad, the Brazilian has pushed himself up the pecking order in recent weeks - especially with striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang currently on the sidelines for an unforeseen period of time.

That is not to do Martinelli’s performances any discredit, however.

Following a stunning brace in Arsenal’s 4-1 victory against Leeds United, the 20-year-old now has four goals and three assists in his last six Premier League appearances.

His displays have been a huge reason behind the Gunners moving into the top-four.

However, his development appears to be down to a simple instruction from current boss Arteta.

Speaking after the win at Elland Road, Martinelli said: “It was a very good result. It was away and so important for the team.

“We are happy with the work and result as well. This is what Mikel asks when we go in the final third to be dangerous.

“It’s so good that he (Lacazette) tracks the centre-backs and I get the chance to get in behind. It was a great pass from Granit, thanks to him too. It was two good goals.

“We have a young team but strong and very good player. You see today Emile [Smith Rowe] came off the bench and scored.”

Martinelli will no doubt be keen to continue his hot streak during the remainder of the festive period.

The Gunners at first have to navigate their Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Sunderland on Tuesday night but the Brazilian could score in a third successive Premier League clash next weekend as Arsenal travel to Carrow Road to face off with Norwich City.
