Gabriel Martinelli paid huge compliment by former Man Utd star as Mikel Arteta faces Leeds call

Here is your Arsenal morning digest for Sunday, November 15.

Four things spotted in Arsenal training

Arsenal have been training hard over the last week, albeit with a depleted squad because of players’ international duties.

Those away with their countries will soon be back at London Colney, but some may only have a couple of days of training back with their team-mates as the Gunners prepare for next weekend’s Premier League game against Leeds United.

In the meantime, some of Arsenal’s youngsters have been involved in first-team training, while Mesut Ozil has been doing what he does best: providing assists.

We took a look at what’s been happening in Mikel Arteta’s training sessions as the Gunners head coach faces some decisions over his team selection.

Arsenal squad value revealed

Arsenal’s squad is now the sixth most valuable in world football , according to Transfermarkt .

Gameweek 8: Race for the Golden Boot

The Gunners squad value has fallen, down £67.32m from last season’s total of £636.08m.

It now stands at £568.76m, behind Liverpool (£973.35m), Manchester City (£971.64m), Chelsea (£755.01m), Manchester United (£719.87m) and Tottenham Hotspur (£644.70m).

The drop in value is likely because of the coronavirus pandemic, given that Arsenal spent heavily on the likes of Thomas Partey and Gabriel Magalhaes this summer.

Ferdinand praises Arsenal youngster

Rio Ferdinand has heaped praise on Arsenal youngster Gabriell Martinelli ahead of his return from injury.

The 18-year-old is yet to feature this season, but made a big impression with seven goals in 12 appearances in the Europa League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup last term.

And former Manchester United and England defender Ferdinand was one of those impressed by Martinelli.

“To be 18-years-old, doing what he's doing; the goal against Chelsea alone, he runs from the edge of his box - a set-piece against his team - he takes it to the other end,” he said on Instagram.

“Normally, your legs are gone by then, you've got no energy and no juice in your legs, but he has the composure to slot it.

“Great player, but the awareness of the way he plays, the way he moves on the pitch, the intelligence to receive the ball, the positions he takes up.”
