Gabriel Martinelli opens up on his Arsenal move and how Mikel Arteta and Unai Emery impacted him

Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli has insisted he didn't think twice about completing a transfer from South America to move to the Emirates Stadium last summer.

The 18-year-old has exploded into the first-team this season, hitting 10 goals in all competitions after making an impact in both the Premier League and the Europa League.

Signed as a relatively unknown prodigy at the start of the campaign, Martinelli's rise has been incredible and his form has seen him linked with a move to Real Madrid.

However, while he admits he had some other offers following his performances for Ituano, he stated he never thought twice once the offer from Arsenal emerged.

European Leagues Outright odds

"I played Copinha and very quickly the São Paulo championship. I did well and had some offers. Arsenal was the one who made a firmer proposal and serious planning," he told Marca.

"I was offered to train with the first team. We do not think twice. It was my dream and my parents' dream that one day I could come to play in Europe. I didn't think twice because Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs in Europe."

There have been significant changes since Martinelli's arrival, the biggest of which saw Unai Emery axed and replaced by Mikel Arteta, and both have had an impact on the teenager.

"Both are amazing people. Unai [Emery] helped me a lot, he was the first who trusted me and placed me. I will always be very grateful. He was the one who gave me the first minutes in Europe," he said.

"Mikel [Arteta] now also gives me a lot of confidence. I am very grateful. He always tries to help me and give me advice so I can improve my football. In that I think he is amazing because he tries to give attention to all the players and is a very good person."
