Arsenal made it three wins from three in the Europa League this season as they came from behind to beat Vitoria 3-2 last night (Thursday).
Two late strikes from Nicolas Pepe saved Arsenal from a disappointing defeat at home against the Portuguese side, who were pointless in the group going into the game at the Emirates Stadium.
But goals from former Spurs academy player Marcus Edwards and Bruno Duarte, either side of a Gabriel Martinelli strike for the Gunners, put the visitors on course for their first points in the group, only for Pepe's double in the last ten minutes.
The Ivorian's impact spared Arsenal's blushes on a night when the Gunners failed to hit the heights of their previous two European clashes this season.
And the victory put Arsenal one step closer to a place in the knockout stages of the tournament, with Unai Emery's men sitting top of Group F with nine points from three games.
However, some of Arsenal's players have acknowledged that the Gunners were not at their best in the game, with defender Rob Holding making a frank admission in a social media post to supporters after the clash.
Meanwhile, goalscorer Martinelli has also taken to social media to thank the Arsenal supporters for helping them in what he described as a "difficult game."
Writing on Instagram, he said: "Today was a difficult game, but we are very happy with our victory and another goal. Well done guys and thank you for our supporters."
