Gabriel Magalhaes agent confirms Arsenal offer was 'nowhere near' the best: 'Edu convinced us of the project'

Gabriel Magalhaes' agent Guilherme Miranda has confirmed that the defender received far more lucrative offers elsewhere before plumping for a move to Arsenal.

Gabriel has undergone a medical in London ahead of a £25million move to the Gunners. The 22-year-old has agreed personal terms on a long-term contract, which is thought to be for five years, and will become Arsenal's second signing of the summer.

Mikel Arteta has beaten off strong competition from Napoli , Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United to land the Lille defender, who was impressed by the project put forward by technical director Edu before signing for the Gunners.

“Arsenal was nowhere near the best proposal [money-wise]," Miranda told journalist Freddie Paxton.

"Gabriel chose them over more lucrative offers because Edu convinced us of the project. It’s 100 per cent because of Edu Gaspar and Arteta.”

Current UK guidelines stipulate that arrivals from France must self-isolate for 14 days due to the threat of Covid-19 and there are no exemptions in place for Premier League clubs making new signings.
