Gabriel Jesus told how he can get closer to Sergio Aguero at Man City

Joleon Lescott says Gabriel Jesus needs to be more selfish in attack for Manchester City.

The striker scored a crucial goal to put City 2-1 up against Real Madrid in the Champions League, seizing on a mistake from Raphael Varane to produce a cool finish.

It was Jesus's fifth goal since football resumed in June as he continues to fill the void left by Sergio Aguero's injury.

Speaking on BT Sport, former City defender Lescott said the difference between the two players is Aguero's selfishness.

Lescott said: “I think he (Jesus) needs to be a bit more selfish with regards to his goal return.

"He does a lot of work for the team, and he got the rewards. It will help the team going forward, but there are going to be games where you solely need to focus on goals.

"I think that’s what Sergio has that’s different to Jesus, it’s just the selfishness."

Lescott was, however, full of praise for how Jesus has improved in the four years he has been at City.

He said: “He’s adapted to the Premier League. His intelligence, he took it upon himself to learn the language - which is massive - because he’s bought into the culture. His game face shows that.

"He’s working really hard, he touched on that, he might not have the technical ability of the Brazilian Ronaldo like he mentioned, but in terms of his work ethic, it’s ridiculous."
