Gabriel Jesus makes Man City claim ahead of Wolves fixture

Gabriel Jesus believes his time has come at Manchester City despite the continue brilliance of Sergio Aguero.

The Brazilian bumped his senior colleague out of the team when he arrived at the Etihad in January 2017, but had to settle for a place on the bench more regularly as Aguero evolved under Pep Guardiola.

Jesus struggled after a frustrating World Cup but has returned rejuvenated this season after a star turn in the Copa America. City would like the 22-year-old to succeed Aguero but he is in a strange situation where he would likely be starting at other top clubs but has still to prove he can be the main man at the Blues.

On Saturday his goal against Leicester was his first at the Etihad since January, while his goals at Burnley at the beginning of the month ended an eight-game drought.

With tough games against Wolves and Sheffield United after Christmas and Aguero still not fit to start, Jesus will be needed to play a major role and he feels he is ready for that at the club.

“I know Sergio can score every game because of his quality and experience - and every time he plays I want him to score, obviously, so I wait and I wait," he told The Sun.

“I want to play every game but the reality is not like that. We have a lot of players, top players. I do try to enjoy it when I am on the pitch.

“But I know Sergio is not young any more like me, and now I think my time has come. This is my time."
