Gabriel Jesus has already delivered honest verdict on Mikel Arteta amid Arsenal transfer links

Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus has already revealed his honest verdict on Mikel Arteta amid the ongoing transfer links to Arsenal.

The Gunners are in search of a top-class centre-forward this summer following Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's departure to Barcelona during the January window.

To make matters even more complicated, both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are into the final five months of their contracts in north London, potentially meaning that technical director Edu could even be in the market for two frontmen this summer.

Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand suggested City star Jesus as a potential option for the Gunners and the Brazilian international's contract at the Etihad Stadium expires in less than 17 months.

"If I was Arsenal, I would go and buy Gabriel Jesus," Ferdinand told his FIVE YouTube channel.

And Jesus has previously made it no secret of his admiration for Arsenal manager Arteta, who he worked with at City for almost three years when the Spaniard was Pep Guardiola's assistant coach.

Speaking back in December 2019, he said: "He's helped a lot of players. When I want to do finishing after training, I tell him and he comes and helps me.

"So he is really fantastic for us. All the players know that — everyone knows that in the club. He is a fantastic guy and fantastic manager."

The 24-year-old has struggled for consistent game time in central areas this season, starting just five times in the Premier League as a centre-forward this term.

Jesus would also fit into the north Londoners' current transfer strategy, with all six of their summer incomings aged 23 or under at the time of signing.
