Gabriel Jesus gives verdict on 'amazing' Liverpool after draw at Man City

Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus has saluted the quality in Liverpool's side after the 1-1 draw between the two teams yesterday.

Mohamed Salah opened the scoring for Jurgen Klopp’s men at the Etihad with a penalty before Jesus equalised for the hosts.

Kevin de Bruyne then missed a spot-kick of his own shortly before half-time before Jesus had a big chance to take all three points for City after the interval but headed wide from close-range.

The draw prevented Liverpool from returning to the top of the pile ahead of the international break, although their lead over City in the Premier League table now stands at five points.

And Jesus lamented his side's failure to take important chances and believes that a point was 'not a good result' for City after the game.

"It's a top game, top opening, we know they work hard and they have a lot of amazing players," he told Sky Sports.

"They can beat us and we can beat them but it's football. We have chances to win the game, we don't score when we have a chance and we draw.

“Now it's time to rest, go to international teams. It's not a good result for us, we know that, but it's a tough game.

"Both teams want to win the league so sometimes we have to up our game, we are at home so we have to control more, play more, hold the ball, attack like we have done in the past.

“We have to keep playing like this and try to score the chances."

Before continuing on his goal: "It was amazing play from the guys.

"When we play like this we have more chances, so Kevin can control the ball good and find me in the box, I can control and finish. I have to try, the attackers have to try, I tried and I scored a goal.

"We play at home, we have to win all the games we play here. The result is not good for us, maybe good for them, but we have to keep fighting until the end because we have a lot of games to play."
