Gabriel Jesus gives update on Man City training ahead of Premier League return vs Arsenal

Gabriel Jesus believes Manchester City players are ready for the return of the Premier League.

The Blues only returned to the training ground three weeks ago after more than two months away, and had to build up to contact sessions under the strict guidelines monitoring the safe comeback. Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne are among the players that had raised concerns about the potential problems if players were thrust back into competitive action too quickly after such a prolonged break.

However, the City squad had been working hard on individual programmes during that time with Jesus one of the stars frequently taking to social media to show the exercise he had been up to.

The Brazilian striker has been encouraged by what he has seen with the group back together in Manchester as they prepare for their first game against Arsenal a week on Wednesday that kickstarts a hectic run of domestic fixtures up to the end of July.

"I am very fit and I am ready to play with my friends," he told Sky Sports.

"We are ready because we are training so, so much. It is hard every day, every single day, every single session. We are training hard.

"Everybody knows this Premier League is done but we don't have to give up because we have the Champions League as well and the FA Cup. We have to do everything to stay fit and play good. I think everyone is ready."
