Gabriel breaks silence after red card during Arsenal's defeat vs Man City

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has broken his silence following his red card against Manchester City.

The Gunners took the lead just after the half-hour mark via talented winger Bukayo Saka, with the Hale End academy graduate turning in a cross from left-back Kieran Tierney.

However, City equalised shortly after half-time after Granit Xhaka was adjudged to have fouled Bernardo Silva in the penalty box before Riyad Mahrez smashed in the penalty.

Brazilian centre-half Gabriel was booked after he had apparently kicked the turf on the penalty spot and he received a second yellow card just two minutes later after fouling countryman Gabriel Jesus on the halfway line.

Eventually, Pep Guardiola's side went on to clinch all three points as Rodri netted an injury-time winner for the visitors, crushing Arsenal fans' hearts with a 2-1 scoreline.

After the full-time whistle, Gabriel took to social media to open up on the match, admitting that the loss was a hard one to accept given the circumstances.

His tweet read: "Hard to accept it but only God knows everything! Proud to be part of this team!!!

"Amazing spirit! We will keep working together, fighting until the end !! For this team I will run until I die !! Let’s keep improving in 2022!!!"

Arsenal have the opportunity to bounce back on Thursday night in their Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool before they travel to face Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup next weekend.

The north Londoners' next Premier League outing comes in two weeks' time against local rivals and fellow top-four contenders Tottenham Hotspur.
