Gabby Petito's 'odd' final text to mum as police granted access to hard drive in van

Missing woman Gabby Petito's 'odd' final text to her mum has been revealed as part of a search warrant filing.

Investigators said Ms Petito called her grandfather 'Stan' in the message, which was odd as she never used this name for him, according to her mum.

The text was released as part of a search warrant confirmation from Florida's 12th Judicial Circuit court, which also said a hard drive had been found in Ms Petito's van.

It comes after police launched a huge search for the 22-year-old after she disappeared during a cross-country 'van life' trip with her fiancé Brian Laundrie. They had been documenting the trip on social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

Mr Laundrie returned from the journey alone and later vanished himself, with officers naming the 23-year-old a 'person of interest' in the case.

On Monday, the FBI confirmed human remains matching the description of Ms Petito had been found in the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.

Full forensic identification is still being completed to '100% confirm' it is her, however her family have been informed.

Just before her phone was switched off, Ms Petito texted her mum 'Can you help Stan, I just keep getting his voicemails and missed calls'.

The message, which was revealed in a search warrant filing, was referring to her grandfather, however it was 'odd' as she rarely referred to her him as 'Stan', her mum said.

The search warrant confirmation has allowed investigators to access a hard drive found in the van Mr Laundrie drove back to Florida in.

The authorities believe the hard drive, which was seized on September 14, could provide clues about her disappearance.

Before disappearing, Mr Laundrie refused to speak with investigators and retained a lawyer.

Meanwhile, Ms Petito's father shared a heartbreaking post on social media after police found human remains matching her description.

Joseph Petito posted a photograph of his daughter standing in front of a painted mural with brightly coloured wings on Sunday.

He captioned the photograph with the words 'she touched the world' together with an emoji of a broken heart.

The Laundrie family attorney also released a statement, saying: "The news about Gabby Petito is heartbreaking. The Laundrie family prays for Gabby and her family."

However, on Saturday night, Gabby's family released a statement through their attorney that said: "All of Gabby's family want the world to know that Brian is not missing, he is hiding. Gabby is missing."
