Gabby Petito: Furious neighbour blasts boyfriend's family as cops hunt for him

The furious neighbour of a man whose fiance has been found dead weeks after she vanished has blasted his family.

Brian Laundrie's fiance Gabby Petito went missing on August 24 as the couple travelled around the US together in a white van.

After she vanished, on September 1, Mr Laundrie returned home to his family in Florida and earlier this week it was confirmed remains found in the Grand Teton National Park belonged to Gabby.

The Teton County Coroner has ruled Gabby's death as homicide, although a cause of death is still being determined.

Mr Laundrie has not been seen since last week, when he left his family home.

The week before, he had released a statement through his lawyer saying he was stepping back from searches. He has since been named by police as a person of interest.

His parents told FBI agents they last saw him a week ago, when he told them he was planning to hike alone in the nearby 24,000-acre Carlton Reserve wilderness area.

Police are continuing to search for Mr Laundrie, calling in dive teams and boats to assist the search. They have also urged the public to help them find him.

Mr Laundrie's neighbour, Charlene Guthrie has blasted him as she reacted to news of the preliminary autopsy report on Gabby's body.

Ms Guthrie told Fox News Digital: "I'm really upset now because...[the Laundries] should have absolutely come forward now.

"I mean, I just....can't believe they didn't do something. I'm really angry now that they...let this go. And that everything was so natural and they remained so normal through the whole thing, you know, while they were here, til he went on the run."

A witnessed has claimed that they saw Mr Laundrie "slapping" Gabby weeks before her disappearance.

In a call to police, the unnamed witness said they watched him chase her up and down the pavement.

Moab Police Department in Utah responded to the incident which happened on August 12, before finding the van and pulling the couple over.

In a newly released transcript from the a 911 call published by ABC News the caller claims to have seen Laundrie slap his partner in the weeks before.

The caller says they are reporting a "domestic dispute" and describes seeing "a gentleman ... slapping the girl."

They added: "They ran up and down the sidewalk. He proceeded to hit her hops in the car. And they drove off."

On Sunday, in a heartbreaking message, Gabby's father posted an image of her stood between two wings with the words: "She touched the world," alongside a broken heart.

The same day, Charles Jones of FBI Denver confirmed a body had been found matching Gabby's description.

He said in a statement: "Earlier today human remains were discovered consistent with Gabrielle Petito, "Full forensic identification has not been completed to confirm 100% that we found Gabby, but her family has been notified of this discovery."
