GAA legend Joe Canning marries girlfriend Meg in stunning Limerick wedding

Former Galway hurling star Joe Canning has married his girlfriend Meg in a stunning winter wedding this weekend.

The happy couple tied the knot surrounded by their close friends and family in the gorgeous Monaleen Church in County Limerick. RSVP Live reports that the wedding took place on Friday November 25.

Beauty boss and social media influencer Aimee Connolly shared a look inside their big day as she posted a picture of the dashing groom and blushing bride on Instagram.

Aimee's fiancée John was best man on the day as he stood with Joe on the altar. He and the famous groom looked dashing in black suits paired with classic black ties.

The bride looked beautiful in a spaghetti strapped white gown complete with a thigh high slit as she posed with her new husband and John and Aimee for a picture at the evening reception. Aimee looked fabulous in an emerald green dress.

Following the wedding, Aimee said: "Congrats Joe and Meg. What an unreal day yesterday... such an early night too."

Joe announced his retirement from inter county hurling with Galway last summer, at the age of just 32.

"That’s it, finished with Galway now," the Portumna man said at the time.

“I told the boys after in the dressing room, that was it, so have to keep my word a bit on that one.

“I will keep playing with Portumna, but that’s me finished with Galway."

Since taking a step back from hurling, Joe has taken up a role as a pundit with RTÉ's The Sunday Game. He analysed a number of games during the 2022 championship season.

The former GAA star is the preferred hurler to take over from Des Cahill as presenter of The Sunday Game in the latest odds for the high profile role at 18/1.
