GAA club suspends activity after player tests positive for Coronavirus

A Co Tyrone GAA club has suspended operations after a senior player tested positive for Coronavirus.

Eglish GAC issued a statement this afternoon confirming that a member of their senior panel has tested positive for the virus and as a result the club would be suspending all activity.

The statement read: "The Committee of CLG An Eaglais Naomh Pádraig have been made aware of a positive Covid-19 test result from a member of our club senior team.

"As a result the club have suspended activity in all age groups and codes. The committee have informed CLG Tir Eoghain and Pairc Ui Chróciagh and will be acting on the guidelines issues by CLG Tír Eoghain."

It added: "The club has at all times since resuming activities adhered to GAA and Public Health guidelines and regards to the health and wellbeing of our members and community as paramount in everything we do.

"The club will be making no further comment on the matter."

The Tyrone Club league resumed last weekend and Eglish were in competitive action against Aghaloo O'Neillls.

The news comes after 10 clubs in Derry also suspended activities last week as a precautionary measure after a cluster of Covid-19 cases was identified in the Limavady area.
