GAA club shuts down activities after 'a number of members' test positive for Covid-19

Yet another GAA club has shut down activities due to Covid-19 after positive cases were confirmed at Thomas McCurtains GAA Club.

The East London club have announced that 'a number of members' have tested positive for the deadly bug and after following protocols have ceased all activities.

In a statement on Tuesday, the club said they're following tracing procedures and guidelines for testing requirements and working with health officials.

"A number of members of Thomas McCurtains GAA Club have recently tested positive for Covid-19," a club statement said.

"As a club we have acted quickly to follow the robust procedures in place within our own club, the GAA and inline with government guidelines for the occurrence of such a situation.

"We are currently following tracing procedures and guidelines for testing requirements and will continue to do so.

"All of our members, the London County Board and relevant authorities have been duly informed and we are in close collaboration on the next steps.

"The Club has with immediate effect suspended all GAA related activity for an initial minimum period of 7 days pending further assessment and consultation with regulatory bodies and authorities.

"The health and safety of our members and our wider community will always be our number one priority and we will not return to activity until safe to do so. We will continue to keep all concerned parties duly informed."
