GAA club finals to no longer take place on St Patrick's Day at Croke Park

The All-Ireland senior club finals will reportedly no longer be played in Croke Park on St Patrick's Day, as they will be moved to January.

It is being reported that either the All-Ireland under 20 final or a semi-final double-header will be played instead, depending on how fixtures work out.

Eventually over the next few years the plan would be to complete the club finals before Christmas, but that is expected to be a considerable distance from happening.

The Central Council are reportedly expected to approve the Under-20 proposal at a meeting on Saturday week when they discuss the 2020 fixtures plan.

The All-Ireland club finals have been played in GAA HQ on March 17 since the mid-1980s.
