The GAA asked to change their decision on banning club games

Disappointed Naomh Conaill have written to the GAA asking them to change their mind and allow this Sunday’s Donegal county club final to go ahead.

Martin Regan’s players were primed and raring to go for the big showdown against Kilcar in Ballybofey after two postponements of the game already.

Croke Park’s decision to ban all club games has already drawn an angry response from Kilcar manager John McNulty after he learned that the country was not going into total lockdown but rather staying at Level Three, which was already in force in Donegal and Dublin.

McNulty accused the GAA of jumping the gun by not waiting for the Government decision.

Naomh Conaill chairman David Kelch told the Donegal Post: “We have sent an email to Croke Park looking for the game to be played as planned this weekend.

“We have been at Level Three for the last number of weeks. We played our semi-final under Level Three restrictions and that is where we are coming from and hopefully, we can get the game played.

“I accept Croke Park may not change their mind given their concerns, but there is no harm in trying as it is desperately disappointing for the team, the town and the whole community.”
