A general view of Riyadh. (SPA)

Official figures have shown that 96 percent of the world’s patents come from the countries of the G20.

The figures were revealed during Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the Global Intellectual Property Challenges Forum, in partnership of the G20 secretariat, on Monday.

Official spokesman of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, Mohammed al-Hassan, revealed that 73 percent of the world’s creative goods exports come from G20 countries.

Ninety-one percent of trademarks also come from these countries, as well.

The forum tackled coordinating intellectual property policies and promoting information related to intellectual property. The event was attended by over 36 parties, six international organizations and 28 intellectual property offices from 22 countries.
