A new future has been secured for Crossmichael Memorial Hall.
The village’s community trust has bought the hall from the previous hall committee.
And locals and kids were out in force on Monday afternoon for the official handover ceremony.
Edward Hex from the community trust said: “The hall committee asked if they could join the trust to get charitable status about four years ago.
“We’ve now bought the hall so the committee has been dissolved and the community trust has taken
over.
“We haven’t needed to raise funds for this but it does mean we can look for more funds because of our charitable status.
“Things have been quiet through Covid but it’s picking up now and the hall is starting to get quite busy.
“The hall committee did a grand job of maintaining the building and getting a lot of ground work done in terms of the floor and drainage.
“We’re looking at grant funding from SPEN and Natural Power.
“They’ve come and looked to see what grants they can get for us, like renewables, solar panels and insulation.
