'Future Ballon d'Or winner!' - Gabriel Martinelli decision has got Arsenal fans talking

Gabriel Martinelli has been named as Arsenal's player of the month for January after an impressive month for the Gunners.

The 18-year-old scored twice in January, with goals against Sheffield United and Chelsea as he made five appearances for the Gunners in all competitions, impressing in FA Cup matches against Leeds United and AFC Bournemouth as well.

As a result, he has claimed the player of the month award for the second time this season, after being voted for by Arsenal fans.

Martinelli received 49 per cent of the vote, putting him ahead of Granit Xhaka and Bukayo Saka, who finished second and third respectively in the vote.

Martinelli's goal against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge was the standout moment for the young Brazilian in the month, with the teenager running 67 yards to equalise for the ten-man Gunners in the London derby.

And fans have been waxing lyrical about the 18-year-old after it was announced that he had won the vote.

Martinelli has had a fine season so far for the Gunners since joining from Brazilian side Ituano.

He has now scored ten goals in 23 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal, with three goals in the Europa League, three in the Premier League and four in the Carabao Cup.

The teenager also won the player of the month award in October.
