Fury vs Wach LIVE: Result, reaction and latest updates from Anthony Joshua warm-up

Tyson Fury vs Mariusz Wach LIVE - (AFP/Getty)

Fury vs Wach LIVE!

Tyson Fury recorded a routine victory over Mariusz Wach in Thailand today as he laid down a gauntlet for Anthony Joshua. The ‘Gypsy King’ was competing for the second time since ending his latest boxing retirement with a dominant decision win over Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April and Friday’s mysterious contest at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya came just 24 hours before Joshua makes his return against Kristian Prenga in Riyadh, fighting for the first time since a serious car accident that claimed the lives of two close friends.

Fury cruised to victory in front of a small but spirited crowd, keeping Wach on the back foot from the first bell as he got his eye back in ahead of facing Joshua. Wach’s head was down as early as the first round, but he did well to see out seven of the scheduled ten rounds before the fight was waved off. The pressure is now on Joshua, who must beat Prenga in Jeddah on Saturday to set up a fight with Fury.

Only 1,500 tickets were made available, the proceeds from which will go to the Father Ray Foundation in Thailand. Catch up with Fury vs Wach as it happened below!

When and where is Fury vs Joshua? All we know so far about British super-fight

18:31 , Arthur Ferridge

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are on a collision course to finally fight later in 2026.

Arguably the biggest and certainly the most lucrative showdown in British boxing history looks likely to finally come to pass after so many years of frustration, near-misses and animosity.

Fury remained on track for that blockbuster clash by stopping Polish veteran Mariusz Wach in the seventh round of Friday’s mysterious non-televised main event in Thailand.

It was the self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’s’ second bout since ending a latest 15-month retirement from the sport that followed his rematch defeat by Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024, having seen off Russia’s Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April.

REACTION: Fury lays down challenge to Joshua

18:16 , Arthur Ferridge

Tyson Fury has challenged Anthony Joshua to show the world “how big his balls are” and go through with their planned showdown.

The two British heavyweights have been on something of a collision course for some time, and are finally set to face off against one another in London later this year.

After Fury stopped Mariusz Wach in seven rounds on Friday, all that stands in the way of that plan is Joshua’s meeting with Kristian Prenga on Saturday, which he must win in order to set up the Fury face-off.

Speaking after a routine victory over Wach, Fury suggested he doubted whether Joshua would go through with the planned fight.

“I got through my test tonight. Let’s see if (Joshua) gets through his test,” said the Gypsy King.

Down goes Wach! Fury wins in eight rounds!

FURY VS WACH

17:11 , Arthur Ferridge

Yet to win a round, Wach is pushing on in search of a Hail Mary killshot. Yet to come by one, would you believe.

Seven of ten rounds are now in the books.

FURY VS WACH

17:09 , Arthur Ferridge

Wach is now suffering from those tell-tale head shakes which can only mean one thing. He’s starting to feel the pain of this fight.

You wonder if he might call it a night soon.

FURY VS WACH

17:07 , Arthur Ferridge

Round six has come and gone, and Fury is stepping on the gas. He’s ready to stop Wach, but the Pole, known for his stubborn endurance, is absorbing jab after painful jab.

How much more does he have in him?

FURY VS WACH

17:04 , Arthur Ferridge

Fury is really enjoying the occasion, doing what he can to rile up the small crowd here.

He lands a string of uppercuts to Wach’s chin.

Wach’s corner has been given the chance to withdraw their man ahead of round five, but the Pole persists.

Round four yields as many as ten unanswered jabs for Fury, who is continuing to dominate what appears to be a very comfortable fight.

FURY VS WACH

One way traffic in Pattaya as Fury continues to rain blows on Wach, who is doing what he can to hang in there.

It does appear to be effectively a training session for the Gypsy King, though.

Three rounds down now, and Wach is flagging.

One reporter on the scene says Fury ‘can end this whenever he wants’.

Fury is said to have landed a bruising three-shot combination as the bell rang, and apologised to Wach after the fact.

Fury takes an early advantage in Thailand. He has won both of the first two rounds relatively comfortably.

FURY VS WACH

Wach pokes the bear in the second round, catching Fury out with a jab.

That has only upset the Gypsy King, who responds in kind to end the second round with a flurry of blows.

FURY VS WACH

Word is that Fury was switching back and forth between a Southpaw and Orthodox stance in that first round.

He managed to land a number of combinations on Wach, who had little to no response.

FURY VS WACH - ROUND ONE

16:48 , Arthur Ferridge

Wach already appears spent as he collapses onto his stool after what seems to have been a draining first round.

Fury looks fit and is keeping his opposite number on his toes early on.

The fighters touch gloves and get going!

Some suggestion that Fury might carry Wach somewhat to get his eye in before a much tougher potential fight with Joshua.

Let’s see if that is the case.

Standing ovation for Fury

Tonight's arena

Here’s a look at tonight’s ring, which usually plays host to kickboxing bouts but tonight is the Gypsy King’s playground.

Fighters ready to emerge

Another peak behind the scenes. There are certainly no frills in Pattaya, but it looks like the fighters are making do and ready to go.

Fury previews tonight's fight

15:46 , Arthur Ferridge

"[Wach] is a tough man. A veteran, been around the game 20 years plus, so he's a dangerous man, a big heavyweight and anything can happen.

"I've got to be wary of him, be on my A-game and do what I do.

"I've been out here ten weeks training, so I've not left any stones unturned. I'm ready to go. I'm in great shape and I'm fit as a fiddle."

A peak behind the curtain

It is all a bit provincial in Pattaya. Here’s a look at Fury and Wach’s shared changing room for this fight.

When will Fury vs Wach get underway?

15:27 , Arthur Ferridge

We are hearing a lot of different times being bandied around for when this fight might get going.

The general consensus, though, is that it will be somewhere between 4.30pm and 5pm BST.

Prenga targets Fury fight

15:26 , Arthur Ferridge

Victory for Tyson Fury tonight will set up one half of a super-bout with Anthony Joshua, who will face Kristian Prenga tomorrow.

Prenga, though, is prepared to upset the order and beat the returning Joshua before facing Fury himself.

Asked if he considers himself an underdog, he said: “Yes, it made me more motivated because everybody says, ‘who's this guy? He’s a nobody’, but Saturday, he's going to see who I am.

“AJ is a gentleman, he has respect for everybody, but I told him before too, it's not good to make a plan before God. His team or his management or him, I don't know, he made a plan before God to fight Tyson Fury, and first he needs to fight me. And it's not good to make a plan before God because only God can make a plan for you, for me, for everybody.” (via Betway)

Carl Froch: Fury vs Wach is like putting a Sunday league side against Arsenal

15:16 , Arthur Ferridge

"Tyson Fury against Mariusz Wach is the same as putting the best Sunday League football team on the pitch against Manchester City or Arsenal.

"It would be a whitewash. Every now and again in the FA Cup, you get an anomaly where somebody from League One or League Two beats a Premier League reserve side, but if you put the best Sunday League team against the best Premier League team, that’s what you’re getting with Fury and Wach.

"Fury is past his best, but Wach has been struggling for years. It’s an easy fight for Fury and basically a warm-up sparring session. He should take his time and get a few rounds." (Via BetPack)

Fury vs Wach start time update

14:45 , George Flood

Boxing reporters on the ground are now reporting that 5pm BST is the most likely start time for Tyson Fury vs Mariusz Wach - that is 11pm local time.

It sounds like it will actually be the second fight on the card, rather than the first or the last.

Judging by a few videos doing the rounds on social media, it looks like the rain has been absolutely lashing down again in Pattaya, where there have been weather warnings, thunderstorms and flooding in recent days.

Fury vs Wach ticket sales being donated to charity

14:38 , George Flood

The World Boxing Council (WBC) have put up a special ‘METTA Humanitarian Belt’ for Tyson Fury vs Mariusz Wach today.

The WBC said that such a title was created to “recognise individuals whose humanitarian work and social commitment generate a positive impact beyond sports”.

They said it was “inspired by the Thai concept of ‘Metta’, which represents compassion, kindness, and selfless care for others, highlighting the power of boxing as a tool for social transformation”.

Fury has confirmed that money raised from the 1,500 ticket sales for the event will be donated to the Father Ray Foundation, a Thai charity that provides care and educational services to 850 disadvantaged children and students with disabilities.

Tyson Fury not underestimating Mariusz Wach threat

14:17 , George Flood

Tyson Fury reiterated once again yesterday that he is not focusing on any long-awaited future super-fight with Anthony Joshua or overlooking the threat posed by Mariusz Wach.

The Gypsy King insists he will fight several more times this year as he looks to stay busy following that latest 15-month retirement from boxing.

“I’m getting sharper, fitter and stronger by the day,” he said.

“I’m not banking on any fight happening that might not happen. I want to keep busy, I’m a fighter.

“This year is the year of Tyson Fury staying busy. Whatever happens, I’m just going to stay busy throughout the year now.

“I’ve had the one fight in two years, I want to box his head off.

“If it goes a little bit sooner than that then happy days. This is a real fighting man – he’s fought everybody over the last two decades.

“I’ve got to be switched on and take nobody as an easy touch.”

15-year first for Tyson Fury at Mariusz Wach weigh-in

14:00 , George Flood

Tyson Fury tipped the scales at yesterday’s weigh-in at the Lay Beach Club in Pattaya at 18st 13lbs, which was 26lbs less than Mariusz Wach at 20st 11lbs.

It is the first time in 15 years - since the first of his three bouts with Derek Chisora in 2011 - that the 6ft 9in Fury has gone into a fight weighing less than his opponent.

He weighed three pounds more for his win over Arslanbek Makhmudov in April, while Wach was 17lbs lighter for his 10-round points defeat by Ukraine’s Viktor Vykhryst in Budapest in March.

“I’m Mr Slim now,” joked Fury at a very jovial weigh-in, during which he laughed and joked with Wach.

Fury vs Wach prediction

13:50 , George Flood

Tyson Fury was dominant if unspectacular on his latest comeback against the hard-hitting but limited Arslanbek Makhmudov, shaking off the inevitable ring rust after 15 months in retirement as he eased to a wide points triumph.

He will look to step things up another notch here against an easier opponent on paper who is nine years his senior - one who was stopped by Makhmudov in the sixth round in Montreal in 2022.

It is important that he sends equally as emphatic a message as Joshua, who is expected to make light work of the little-known Kristian Prenga 24 hours later in Riyadh.

Heavyweight gatekeeper Mariusz Wach has had his moments during a lengthy professional career that started in 2005 and has included brief forays into both kickboxing and mixed martial arts (MMA), most notably taking Wladimir Klitschko 12 rounds when unsuccessfully challenging for the unified heavyweight titles in Hamburg in 2012.

However, more than half of his 13 pro losses have come in the last 10 fights and he is now a long, long way past his best at 46.

We expect thoroughly one-way traffic and a likely stoppage, unless Fury is happy to dominate and get 10 more rounds in the bank without pushing too hard for the knockout.

Fury to win by knockout.

Why is Tyson Fury fighting in Thailand?

13:42 , George Flood

Today’s fight with Mariusz Wach marks Tyson Fury’s first in Thailand and his first not to take place either in the UK or Saudi Arabia since the epic third instalment of his unforgettable trilogy against Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas in October 2021.

The last time Fury fought in a country that wasn’t either the UK, USA or Saudi Arabia was his famous victory over Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015, when he became the world heavyweight champion for the first time in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Fury trained for his comeback against Arslanbek Makhmudov in Pattaya City, working alongside Robert McInnes at the ISS Boxing Club.

“I’ve been training here since December,” Fury told The Sun this week. “Great people, good place, give something back.

“I thought on a big show, I’d never had a proper fight, never had a big fight here, a boxing fight.”

Fury vs Wach undercard

13:32 , George Flood

We don’t know for sure the exact running order of today’s fight card in Pattaya, aside from the fact that Fury has claimed that his clash with Wach will be on first rather than last in another unusual move.

We’ll wait and see if that does indeed prove to be the case. If not, we could be looking at a later time for those ring walks than previously stated.

The second biggest bout on the bill is another heavyweight scrap between London’s Simon Ibekwe and German Daniel Baer, the former of whom has trained with the likes of Anthony Joshua and Lawrence Okolie in the past.

There appear to be a number of local fighters on the card.

Tyson Fury vs Mariusz Wach

Daniel Baer vs Simon Ibekwe

Michael Alan Flannery vs Narong Phumrakson

Lucas Dassios vs Rattapol Kadamduan

Mark Ahondjo vs Aekkaphob Auraiwan

Arlo Stephens vs Arash Mardani

Why is Fury vs Wach not on TV?

13:24 , George Flood

In a move that is otherwise totally unheard of in modern boxing, Tyson Fury vs Mariusz Wach is not being broadcast live on television anywhere in the world.

Instead, Fury has said that exclusive footage from the fight will instead be shown on the third series of his hit Netflix reality show, ‘At Home with the Furys’.

There is no release date for that as yet, so it is uncertain when exactly it will be broadcast.

It is worth noting too that Netflix also have the broadcasting rights to a Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua super-fight, which remains unsigned but it is hoped will take place in the UK later in 2026.

More on that in a moment.

Fury vs Wach live

13:17 , George Flood

Good afternoon and welcome to Standard Sport’s live coverage of Tyson Fury vs Mariusz Wach.

The self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ fights today for the second time since ending his latest retirement from boxing with a comfortable points win over Russian Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April, facing the 46-year-old Wach in Thailand - where he now bases himself for training.

It is widely seen as perhaps Fury’s last fight before he finally takes on arch-rival Anthony Joshua in a blockbuster showdown later this year.

The bout with Wach comes just 24 hours before Joshua makes his return against Albania’s Kristian Prenga in Riyadh - his first fight since suffering minor injuries in a serious car accident in Nigeria in December that claimed the lives of two close friends and team members.

Fury vs Wach at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya unusually isn’t being shown live on TV, while estimated start times vary - though Fury himself claimed that it would be at 10pm local time, which is 4pm BST.

He also said it would be the first fight on the bill, rather than coming after the usual undercard.

Only 1,500 tickets have been made available for the event, the proceeds from which will go to charity.

Stay tuned for updates across the afternoon...
