Fury as thousands of Instagram accounts STILL remain suspended after bug 'fixed'

Instagram users are up in arms this morning over inexplicable bans being handed out, despite the social media giant saying they had already fixed the problem.

Instagram users took to twitter yesterday (Monday October 31) with complaints that Instagram was suspending accounts at random, with some major celebrities reporting losing millions of followers.

Instagram apologised for the glitch, releasing a statement on Twitter at about 10pm last night, saying the issue had been resolved.

“We've resolved this bug now – it was causing people in different parts of the world to have issues accessing their accounts and caused a temporary change for some in number of followers. Sorry!”, the company posted.

However, the chaos appeared to be continuing into a second day, despite the company's assurances, with multiple Instagram users still complaining their accounts had been suspended without good reason.

Twitter user @TKtamilarasan posted this morning (Tuesday November 1) claiming they were “still unable to log in to my account”. Meanwhile @FrancescaToole added: “mine is literally still disabled."

Twitter user @kirstymckxo said: “My business account I use for work is still not working since Sunday morning. I need this account back it is my job."

The alarming messages started appearing at about 1pm yesterday (Monday October 31) with many fans posting images of the alert, which states that things will be suspended by the end of the day.

Instagram has since said the error was due to a bug, causing the warning to be released. But the message suggested that users were not following strict community guidelines. Some users even reported that their Instagram pages were closed down without warning.

Instagram’s owner, Meta, also had to deal with a major outage with WhatsApp this week, which left users unable to send messages for almost two hours.

It was followed by a glitch that caused Facebook and Instagram to go offline just before the weekend.

Mirror Online has contacted Meta for comment.
