A student was left furious after spotting a Tesco shopper wearing no mask and what looked like a yellow 'Star of David' - a symbol hijacked by anti-vaccine people to symbolise their opposition to the jab.
The mature student, who is at high risk should she catch coronavirus, said she was stunned when she saw the shopper in Tesco in Uplands, Swansea earlier this week.
Due to a number of serious health conditions, the student has had to strictly adhere to lockdown isolation and reportedly faced abuse from people who believe restrictions should be lifted, reports Wales Online.
The yellow star was a symbol the Nazis forced Jews to wear during the holocaust but has been appropriated by some anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers during the pandemic.
They have attempted to equate being urged to get the jab to the Nazi repression of Jews and their genocide.
The student said: "I have all sorts of conditions including fibromyalgia, brittle bones, and autism and have been told my death would be worth it by people if it meant they could get their 'freedom'.
"Some say that deaths from Covid are only for those who are older or disabled. It totally devalues my life - I quite like my life and want to live it.
"I haven't gone out much during lockdown because I am high risk, unless it's for something medical - friends usually drop off items for me. So most people have much more freedom than the people like me.
"I've been aware of people misappropriating disabled aids so they can go maskless during the pandemic. It makes it more difficult for those who are truly mask exempt.
"I'd been aware that some anti-masker and anti-vaxxers had used the yellow star of David as a symbol of their opposition, but I was still surprised when I believe I saw it locally. It shows a complete misunderstanding of history. It is so problematic, there are almost no words.
It was used by the Nazis on millions sent to their death and who had no choice. To use it to represent opposition to getting a vaccine or lockdown measures is obscene".
Anti-vaxxers in America who wear the yellow star to protest restrictions have been widely condemned.
"People with genuine reasons not to wear a mask face having issues with security getting into places, who may be rude or aggressive, because of people who refuse to wear them without good reason," said the student.
"The idea people may be faking it is different from those who are mask exempt. I can't think of any other reason someone would be wearing the yellow star".
