Fury as piles of rubbish dumped in abandoned caravan site in Manchester city centre

Shocking photos show piles of rubbish dumped at an abandoned caravan site in Manchester city centre.

Fly-tippers have left baths, tyres, doors and piles of wood and hardware strewn everywhere.

An angry resident said the piles of waste in Dantzic Street is attracting rats and "getting bigger every day".

The local says he has witnessed people turning up with trucks of unwanted items and dumping them on the site in broad daylight.

He said: "It's a disgrace.

"People turn up with trucks and just dump stuff.

"It looks terrible.

"They are dumping stuff in broad daylight.

"It's getting bigger every day. It's an absolute s**t hole."

The resident said he has approached Manchester City Council, but not received a response.

Manchester City Council said they were aware of the issue and were working towards a long term solution.

A spokesperson for Manchester City Council said: "The Council is aware of the ongoing fly-tipping issues around the Dantzic Street area and measures are being taken to remove the offending items.

"Discussions with partner agencies are ongoing to find a long-term solution to this problem."
