Fury after Glasgow ‘muppets’ seen cycling city hire bikes on Isle of Arran 50 miles away

A pair of cyclists have been accused of breaking lockdown travel restrictions after being spotted riding two Glasgow city hire bikes on Arran.

The bike riders were seen in Brodick on Saturday, April 10, by an eagle-eyed passerby who spotted the ‘People Make Glasgow’ logo on the bicycles.

The angry local took a picture and shared it on Twitter branding the duo ‘muppets’ after believing they had travelled over on the ferry from Ardrossan, Glasgow Live reports.

@AvantTraveller tweeted: “Yo, Nextbike UK. I’ve just seen two of your Glasgow bikes in Brodick, on the Isle of Arran.

"As much as I like to see people on the bikes, these muppets are breaking lockdown rules going outside of the local authority area.

“Also, why did CalMac let them on the boat?"

On April 2 the 'Stay At Home' rule was replaced by a requirement to 'Stay Local', allowing people across Scotland to make non-essential journeys in their local authority area.

This 'stay local' message is due to remain in place for three weeks, with people still being urged not to travel outside their local authority area for non-essential reasons during this period.
