Just when I thought the retail sector was suffering massively - and enough people have said so - Debenhams goes and posts record sales. So, is the High Street slumping or not? Many companies seem to think so.
The Guardian's special report on the retail sector has a lot to say on the subject. It's required reading for any small business trying to operate in that market - although the smaller players are bound to be suffering more than the larger ones simply because of th buying power the bigger concerns have.
Nevertheless, the Debenhams experience suggests the customers are still out there if you can find a way of getting to them.
