Further coronavirus infections in Leeds as county reaches grim milestone

Three more people have tested positive for coronavirus in Leeds in the past 24 hours.

It comes as Yorkshire reaches a grim milestone with more than 30,000 confirmed reported infections across the county.

The latest figures published by Public Health England show that a further 106 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the region.

This brings the total number of infections to 30,048, including 3,728 in Leeds.

Doncaster, East Riding of Yorkshire and Hull were the only areas to not record any new cases.

The biggest jump was recorded in Bradford with a further 50 people testing positive for the virus followed by Kirklees with 15 and Wakefield with 12.

Kirklees and Bradford are both in the top 10 of areas in the UK with the highest coronavirus infection rates.

  • Leeds - was 3,725 now 3,728 (+3)
  • Wakefield - was 1,778 now 1,790 (+12)
  • North Yorkshire - was 2,544 now 2,545 (+1)
  • Sheffield - was 4,120 now 4,125 (+5)
  • Barnsley - was 1,958 now 1,966 (+8)
  • Bradford - was 4,642 now 4,692 (+50)

  • Calderdale - was 759 now 764 (+5)
  • Rotherham - was 1,987 now 1,990 (+3)
  • Kirklees - was 2,294 now 2,309 (+15)
  • York - was 912 now 916 (+4)
  • Doncaster -still 2,016
  • East Riding of Yorkshire - still 1,648
  • Hull - still 1,559
