Further 816 people test positive for coronavirus in UK

A further 816 people tested positive for coronavirus in the UK according to the latest figures.

This is according to data published on the Public Health England (PHE) dashboard on Monday (August 10).

The number is down by 246 from the day before.

This now brings the total amount of people to have tested positive with coronavirus is now 311,641.

The most recent seven day rolling average of cases is now 859.9, compared with 551 at the same point in July.

The Department of Health  has paused the publication of its daily death figures  while a review is conducted into how the data is compiled by PHE.

Hospital deaths for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Irleand are still being released daily.

A further six people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in hospital in England, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 29,419, NHS England said on Monday.

The patients were aged between 65 and 93 and all had known underlying health conditions.

No deaths were reported with no positive Covid-19 test result.

One more person has died with coronavirus in Northern Ireland, the Department of Health said, bringing the toll following the weekend to 557.

In Scotland no deaths have been recorded of patients who tested positive for coronavirus in the previous 28 days.

There have been no further deaths recorded in Wales.
