Further 36 coronavirus deaths in Scotland as cases increase by 156

A further 36 people have sadly died on account of coronavirus in Scotland, the Scottish Government have confirmed.

The government's latest daily figures were published this afternoon to advise of a further 156 positive cases of covid-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the national total to 13,305.

Meanwhile, in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde region, there has been a jump in positive cases of 34 from 3,333 to 3,367.

As of last night 496 people were being treated in hospital for coronavirus in Glasgow and the surrounding area, a decrease of 6 from Friday. There are currently 30 people in intensive care.

The Scottish Government advised:

A total of 71,092 people in Scotland have been tested through NHS labs to date. Of these:

  • 57,787 were confirmed negative
  • 13,305 were positive
  • 1,847 patients who tested positive have died

"These figures will be an underestimate. Not everyone with Covid-19 will display symptoms and not all those with symptoms will be tested", the government adds.
