Furniture stores reopening across the UK this weekend

Furniture shops will be reopened in time for Bank Holiday with DFS and Furniture Village both announcing their plans.

It comes after the Government updated their list of which retailers are allowed to open - and the list now includes homewares.

The move has already seen Dunelm and Matalan reopening branches.

Furniture Village will open all 46 of its branches from Saturday having tested new social distancing measures in stores in Bristol, Gillingham, Tamworth and York.

DFS will start to reopen branches from Friday with ScS saying it plans to reopen as soon as possible.

Dunelm has gradually reopened 39 of its 171 stores.

Charlie Harrison, commercial director of Furniture Village, said: “We are delighted to be officially reopening all Furniture Village stores this week in line with the latest government guidance.”

Furniture Village will be temperature checking every customer as the arrive and asking them to clean their hands.

Staff will also be temperature checked while they also wear face shields, stand behind perspex screens and use disposable pens.
