Furloughed Fiona proves she can still cut it as she raises money for NHS charity

A woman whose hair is her “pride and joy” opted to brave the shave to raise cash for the NHS charity.

Fiona Carroll opted to do the sponsored head shave and has already surpassed her target.

She said: “I’ve already raised £1600 including Gift Aid so I’m really pleased with that.

“The idea started when I had been furloughed from work and was thinking like I should be doing a little bit more.

“You can’t fail to be touched with what we are seeing from the NHS and other key workers. I was thinking about what I could do.

“I didn’t have a lot of options being in the house so thought this was the best way to go. My husband Russell said he was really proud of me.

“I think he is getting used to it now and seems quite happy to have the most hair out of the both of us now!”

It was Russell who did the honours for Fiona at their home in Flemington with daughter Emily filming all the action and streaming it on social media.

“It was a big family occasion,” said Fiona, “although our son Oliver quickly got out of the way as soon as the camera went on.”
