Furious residents complain bins still waiting for collection since before CHRISTMAS

Residents have been left complaining their bins have not been collected since before Christmas.

Coventry City Council has now warned that garden waste collections could be delayed by weeks more.

In a statement, the authority has instructed residents to leave their bins out over the coming days as they say they will get to them 'as soon as we can.' It is hoped the delays will ease within the 'next few weeks' with 'regular service' across the city.

Residents have been left infuriated by the delays, taking to Facebook to express their frustration., reports Coventry Live.

Ann Beverley fumed: "Blue and brown-lidded bins have been out in my street for the past two weeks. Struggling to even park for them. Will they be collected tomorrow? Who knows! What a shambles!"

Julie Thomas said: "After my being patient and taking rubbish to the collection point for myself and my elderly parents using my expensive petrol to do that but appreciated we at least could dispose of general waste and then recyclable waste.

"I feel that having been missed for a week is bad and I feel more than a bit annoyed, especially after being told it would be collected at the weekend just gone."

Emma Puente sarcastically quipped: "High levels of garden waste after them not being collected since before Christmas? You don't say."

Louise Pittaway said: "All brown bins are out in CV7. Smell awful now!"

Another called Anne wrote: "You should've been both aware and prepared for high levels of garden waste. It was totally predictable given that we haven't had any garden waste collections so far this year and people are already behind with garden maintenance because of missed collections last year."

A spokesman for the council said: "If it's your scheduled garden waste collection today (May 3) and we don't get to you, please leave your bin out and we will get you as soon as we can.

"High levels of garden waste are causing delays with collections. This should ease in the next few weeks with regular service. We thank everyone for their patience."
